How to use your voice to provide rhythm

How to compose your own rhythmic vocal piece


Task 1

Whole class call & copy exercise using rhythmic vocal sounds – your teacher will demonstrate how to use your voice to provide rhythm

Task 2

Write one word on the mini whiteboard that you could say in a percussive way to sound like a beat box. (For example :Boots , Cats, Whoosh, pop)

Explore taking out the vowel sounds and layering up the words to create four beat rhythm phrases.

Task 3

In small groups create your own beat box piece that has a theme. (Example Classical composers, football teams, foods...) Create your own rhythms and layer up the sounds through beat boxing the phonemes of the words- without the vowel sounds.
