Lesson Objectives
- Continue to refine and complete our drumming compositions ready for a dress rehearsal.
Task 1
Watch video feedback from last lesson (if done) or get in to your groups and discuss the following:
- What can you do to improve your drumming piece?
- Have you included everything from the success criteria?
SUCCESS CRITERIA
- A steady beat.
- Good timing (all parts in time to together, following the beat)
- A clear structure (beginning, middle and end or ABA)
- Polyrhythms (including a syncopated rhythm).
- Call and copy.
- Call and response (with the response being clearly improvised and in time)
- Dynamics (loud and quiet sections to make it exciting).
- Solo sections.
- Optional - vocals from the song Babethandaza
Task 2
Continue to work on your drumming composition in your groups and prepare yourself for a dress rehearsal of your piece. Every group will be filmed on the teacher iPad.
Task 3
Watch back some of the dress rehearsal videos from the lesson. Students to discuss and set a target for next lesson (individual and group target)
