Keyboard Skills 1

Task

Choose one of the pieces provided and prepare a live performance of the melody.
As an extension, sequence a drum part and bass line to accompany you.

  • You should try and make the melody as rhythmically accurate as possible.
  • This may mean putting up with the odd wrong note until you have practised a lot.
  • Check the key signature for # and b’s.
    • Remember they affect the note on that line or space for the whole piece.
  • Try singing or humming along
  • Think about where the melody goes to next.
    • Which finger will need to play the next note?

If you choose to sequence an accompanying drum part, keep it simple and appropriate for the style.
