For this 2 hour exam you will need to display a general understanding of technology as well as being able to complete the necessary processes in producing a track, from spotting errors to applying effects.
Section A (75 marks)
- Questions 1–3 will test your musical understanding, your ability to manipulate and correct recorded music and your ability to write commentaries on technological processes.
- For question 4, you will be tested on your knowledge of the wider implications of technology in music. Remember your writing skills are marked here but bullet points are acceptable if they clearly convey the meaning. You will need to be proficient in several skills areas as well as being able to write an extended response.
Section B (25 marks)
- Question 5 will be a practical task involving the production of a balanced stereo mix.
- It is very important that you manage their time and produce stereo .wav files before the end of the exam or you may score 0 for that part.
