Adding Salt to Silk Paint

If you throw rock salt onto silk paint as soon as you have painted and then leave it to dry, you can get some interesting textural effects. The key is to put the salt on straight away and not be tempted to remove it until it is completely dry.

Wet Silk

If you make the silk wet before you add the silk paint then the colours run together to give a muted effect rather than the stain effect that you get when you add the paint to dry silk.

Wax Crayons

Use a pencil sharpener to drop shavings of wax crayons onto fabric and then use the heat press to melt them into the fabric.

TAKE CARE TO USE PARCHMENT PAPER AND NEWSPRINT EITHER SIDE OF THE FABRIC SO THAT YOU DON'T GET WAX ON THE HEAT PRESS
