For Part B, you will be studying a combination of instrumental and vocal set works. These change every year and can be found in your NAM (The New Anthology of Music).
Part B: Investigating musical styles 28 marks
You should allow 45 minutes to answer this section.
You will have to answer 1 question, divided in to 2 parts.
· First part 10 marks based on the musical style of one of the set works.
· Second part 18 marks compare and contrast 2 musical features (such as harmony and form) of two set works. The works concerned will not be the same as those in section A.
Remember, you wont have access to recordings or to your NAM in this section, but you will be able to choose between answering questions on either instrumental set works or the vocal ones. The questions will require longer answer that those in Section A, but you can write in note form or continuous prose, as you prefer. It is important that you illustrate your answers by giving bar numbers, so you should always have your NAM when revising or making class notes on the set works
Remember - you won't have access to your NAM during the exam.
