Part A: Listening – 32 marks
This section is to be completed first and takes around 30 minutes (including 5 minutes of reading time at the start).
You will hear 2 extracts of music, each about one minute in length. The first will be taken from one of your instrumental set works and the second from one of your vocal set works. Each will be played 5 times, with pauses between each play. You will be given a skeleton score of each extract and will have to complete a set of short-answer questions on both extracts.
Most of the questions will involve identifying musical features in the extracts, but you are also likely to be asked to indicate from where in the set work the extract is taken (note that you will not have a copy of your Anthology to use during the exam).
