An essential part of making any product is planning how you will do it. We can do this in a number of ways.
Firstly we can use a Gantt chart. This is a chart that allows us to plan how long different parts of a project will take us and when we will do them. This means that you will have a better idea of how much time you need to give yourselves in order to complete the clock.
You will also produce detailed step-by-step plans explaining how you will complete each stage of the manufacture process of the clock face and the aluminium back.
As you go through the project there will be the opportunity to review your plans. Have they gone the way you predicted? what did you need to change?
Look over your Gantt chart and step-by-step guides. What didn't go as expected? what modifications do you need to improve your plans?
Use a Gantt Chart to plan out the key stages in the manufacture of your clock. Make sure you use technical language that explains clearly what happens at each stage. What quality control checks must you include? As the we go further into the project we will add to this and review what you planned.
During the lesson there will be a demonstration on how we make the plywood clock face. It is important that you make notes during the demonstration as this will be essential for you to complete your home study.
During the lesson there will be a demonstration on how we make the aluminium back. It is important that you make notes during the demonstration as this will be essential for you to complete your home study.
There are worksheets available for both home studies that you can fill in.
