  • Ecosystem - An ecosystem is the living and non- living components of an environment and the interrelationships (connections) that exist between them.
  • Fauna - the animals of a particular region.
  • Flora – the plants of a particular region.
  • Food chain - a series of animals and plants each dependent on the next as a source of food.
  • Producer – an organism which makes food.
  • Primary consumer - living organism that eats the producers.
  • Secondary consumer - organisms that eat primary consumers.
  • Top predator – an animal that naturally preys on others but is not consumed by any other organism.
  • Herbivore - an animal that feeds on plants.
  • Carnivore – an animal that feeds on other animals.
  • Omnivore - an animal or person that eats a variety of food of both plant and animal origin.
  • Adaptation- a genetic change, that helps an organism, such as a plant or animal, survive in its environment.
